13th January 2012
The first Act of the Extreme Sailing Series™ kicks off in just over six weeks in Muscat, Oman.
The full team line up will announced be announced shortly along with the confirmation of the UK and Brazilian venues.
The Extreme Sailing Series is offering one lucky fan the chance to ride onboard an Extreme 40 during racing at a venue of their choice*. This is an exhilarating experience usually reserved for VIPs, sponsors and media. The winner will feel the thrill of being at the heart of the action for one race and receive two bronze VIP passes giving the winner and a friend access to the VIP Lounge for the afternoon to watch the racing.

Journalist Tarquin Cooper from the UK national broadsheet, The Daily Telegraphy, described his Extreme 40 ride: “To get some idea of what it feels like to race this catamaran, imagine being strapped to the bonnet of Jenson Button’s car in a mad free for all against the best rally drivers in the world. And most of the time you are only on two wheels!”
To enter the competition, simply visit the Extreme Sailing Series Facebook fan page and answer one simple question!
* The winner must make their own travel arrangements to their chosen event.
n 2011, the nine venue global tour had many thrills and spills and leading yachting photographer, and official Extreme Sailing Series photographer, Mark Lloyd has made a selection of his favourite pictures from the year. His selection features one of our favourites of the year of Modena ‘hanging around’ on Luna Rossa in Qingdao. The full gallery that includes all the action from the year can be viewed here.
The final Extreme Sailing Series television programme is now available to watch online via our YouTube Channel. The 6-part TV series has had an extensive broadcast run across some of the world's largest TV networks, and the final programme features the close quarter action from the penultimate Act in Almeria, Spain and the exciting conclusion to the 2011 series in Singapore that saw the Italian team Luna Rossa crowned the overall champions.
