F1 Power Boat: Selio Earns Clean Sweep With Win In Brasilia!

Two-time World Champion Sami Selio controlled all 32 laps of the inaugural Grand Prix of Brazil at the opening round of the 2013 UIM F1 H2O World Championship Series earning his 11th career victory and picking up 20 points to take the early lead in the drivers standings at Lake Paranoa in the capital city of Brasilia.

Selio Earns Clean Sweep With Win In Brasilia!

The 15 year veteran led from start to finish fighting off the charges of both Team Qatar boats of American Shaun Torrente and his teammate Alex Carella of Italy who finished second and third on the afternoon. The driver from Helsinki not only jumped out early but was able to knife his way around slower traffic all day on the six-pin, 2.2 kilometer (1.35 mile) circuit.

Two time World Champion Sami Selio of the Mad Croc Team put his Italian built BABA hull into pole position for tomorrow's Grand Prix of Brazil opening the 2013 UIM F1 H2O World Championship for power boating on Lake Paranoa in the nations capital of Brasilia.

The driver from Helsinki, Finland beat out the pair of Qatar Team drivers of Shaun Torrente and two-time defending World Champion Alex Carella in his own drive for his third title with a 52.65 second effort.

F1 Power Boat: Rinaldo Honours Relative Gaetano Osculati

Team Nautica's Rinaldo Osculati marked the occasion of his relative's voyages of discovery to South America in the 1840's by present ting the Governor of Brasilia, Agnelo Dos Santos Queiroz, with a book written by Gaetano Osculati  in 1854 to document his extraordinary journeys, called "Explorations in America Equatorial".

Gaetano Osculati was a renowned explorer and naturalist who on his second voyage to South America discovered the headwaters of the Napo River in Ecuador crossing the Andes and becoming the first Italian to travel the continent from ocean to ocean. "I am so proud to be walking in the footsteps of Gaetano, a man I feel I can almost touch since he's been mentioned in our family since I was a child," said Rinaldo.

F1 Power Boat: F-4S - Flag-To-Finish Win For Friberg

Team Azerbaijan's Nicklas Friberg led from start-to-finish to win race 1 in the F-4S Trophy in Brasilia, with debutant Mike Szimura, racing for F1 GC Atlantic, finishing in second ahead of Team Qatar's Khalid Al Kuwari.

The Swedish driver took full advantage of the absence from the start pontoon of Mad Croc's pole-sitter Kornell Vo from Hungary, who crashed out of qualifying after setting the fastest time and was unable to make the start, and was unchallenged throughout the 15-lap race to win by over 48seconds.
